Cabinet Cultures: Plants in Public Spaces Research Project

Wednesday 08 May 2024, 9am - 5pm

The Old Library, Garrod Building
About this event

This is an ongoing research project exploring how people engage and interact with plants in public spaces.

During the weeks between 8th May - 27th May, a Cabinet Cultures contributor will be conducting observations in The Old Library about how people respond to and care for the moss terrarium.

The moss terrarium in this space is equipped with humidity and temperature sensors, a microscope that takes a photo of the moss every 30 mins to monitor its health status, and motion and proximity sensors that detect when people are near the terrarium. These sensors help monitor the well-being of the plant and the environment around it.

No personal or identifiable data will be collected.

If you have any concerns about the research or wish to contribute by participating in a discussion or learn more about the study and its findings please contact the researcher, Nirit: acw701@qmul.ac.uk.
