Discuss and debate a wide range of issues from fees and cuts, to environmental issues, to the direction you want your Students’ Union to take.

Student Council

Student Council tells the Students' Union and University what to do! Student Council does this by passing policies that the Executive Officers must work on and help to make happen. Student Council also passes actions which the Executive Officers must follow-up on. Student Council is made up of 50 Part-Time Officers who are all elected by students each year, and it is also attended by the Students' Union Executive Officers (though they don’t get to vote). It meets at least four times per academic year.

Student Council is typically held online. Students can request to join the meeting (details below) to speak, or can watch the livestream on the QMSU YouTube page.

If there’s an issue you think the Students’ Union should be working on or something you would like the Students’ Union to have a stance on, you can bring a motion to Student Council. Any student can propose or second a motion, and any student can attend and speak in Student Council. The only thing not all students can do is vote: voting is a right only given to the elected part-time officers (excluding non-representative roles).
