This Girl Can is a campaign developed by Sport England that promotes and celebrates women’s participation in physical activity. This spotlight on women’s involvement in sport is to hopefully inspire women to get involved by trying a different or new sport or even just to take an interest in an environment that can be quite dominated by men at times. The campaign is to champion sport as a space for everyone, one that we want as many people that identify as women to be involved in at university and beyond!
There are loads of events running between Monday 13th November and Sunday 19th November with a mixture of club sport training sessions, Get Active sessions and a Qmotion Takeover for Women to participate and try something new. All activities are open to students and staff.
Our flagship event is a Women’s takeover of Qmotion on Saturday 18th November from 6pm-8pm and Glow in the Dark Yoga class in Drapers lounge from 7pm-8pm.

Most club run sessions are free and our Qmotion Takeover and UV Yoga classes will be £2.50 with all proceeds going to the Women In Sport charity, who work to ensure that everyone gets to experience the joy, fulfilment, and lifelong perks of sports. Please note, Qmotion membership holders are not required to pay the £2.50 charge, but may wish to still donate.
Get Active Sessions
We have two This Girl Can Get Active sessions running on Thursday night. From 6pm-7pm is Basketball and 7pm-8pm is Badminton. These sessions are for all ability levels and are turn up and play, you do not need any specialist equipment or clothing to take part, these sessions are a great chance to get involved in a fun and social setting. All proceeds will be going to the Women In Sport charity. Find out more below.

Qmotion Take Over
We are opening up Qmotion for an extra 2 hours on Saturday night from 6pm-8pm just for women to come and train. Whether you’re brand new or a regular, this is a great opportunity to explore Qmotion as you’ve never seen it before! All staff at the takeover will be women.

Glow with the Flow Yoga
We are running a UV yoga class in Drapers lounge on Saturday night from 7pm-8pm. This will be a yoga class in the dark lit only with UV lights to help get your glow on. We have glow sticks, snaps bands and face paint for you to use during this hour long vinyasa flow in the dark.

Come along to an open training session with our clubs happening between 13th and 19th November! These sessions will be a chance for you to try something new, meet new people, get active and hopefully find a sport you love and want to continue in beginner friendly environments!
