Volunteer
We regularly organise sustainability related volunteering opportunities both on and off campus, allowing you to make a difference in the community. You’ll find everything from our monthly canal clean ups on campus, bulb planting in nearby parks to helping out at Bow Foodbank.
Keep an eye out for on campus and off campus activities through the year.
Start a Campaign
We are always interested to hear your ideas for sustainability improvements, campaigns and activities you’d like the Students’ Union to work on. Please use this form to submit your ideas.
Running a campaign is a great way to raise awareness of issues, create change and develop your own skills.
Following campaigns in recent years, our students have passed policies to cut single-use plastic use and lobby the University to divest from using fossil fuels and declare a Climate Emergency.
Find out more about submitting a motion to Student Council, or if you’d like to find out how to start your own sustainability campaign, contact our sustainability team.
Donate Unwanted Items
Our Reuse scheme is a joint project between the Students’ Union and the University. We collect your unwanted items in May/June and give them a new home with other students.
To date, the scheme has diverted over 4 tonnes of items from landfill. Keep an eye on this page and the sustainability social media for collection information closer to the time.
For details on collections for the 24/25 Re-Use Fair please visit this page or check our Instagram.
During the rest of the year, please donate your unwanted food to Bow Foodbank or the Students' Union Food Pantry in the Students' Union Hub, place books on our Book Swap shelf in Ground Cafe or use the British Heart Foundation collection points on campus.
