Social Leagues

The Students' Union Social Leagues offer a fun social environment for students and staff to compete in sport without the commitment required for a sports club. Enter as a team with friends and course mates and take part in different leagues across all 3 semesters. Trophies and medals are awarded for the winners of each league!

All Social Leagues take place either on or near campus. The leagues are open to all abilities and fees include fixtures, officials, facilities, and equipment. You will be required to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Weekly fixtures and results will be posted on the Social Leagues pages so you can stay updated with where you stand in the league.

The QMSU Basketball League offers a unique playing opportunity for students and staff of all abilities to play in a competitive basketball environment. Matches are played in two 20-minute halves on the indoor court in Qmotion.

There are trophy and medals awarded to the winning team.

When Wednesday (1pm - 5pm)

Matches take place every Wednesday afternoon at Qmotion Sports Hall. Matches are played in four quarters (total match time = 1 hour) with referees and equipment all included. All you need is a pair of trainers and some comfortable clothes to run around in. Trophies and medals are up for grabs for the winning teams too!

The BUCS Playwaze app will be used to show your team fixtures and results each week.

The QMSU 7-a-side football league is a fun, energetic way to play football against like-minded students and staff in a competitive environment. It does not matter what your playing experience or ability level is like, there is a place for you in this league.

You play one 40-minute match each week against different teams within your league. Netted goals, referees, balls, and bibs are all included in your registration fee. League trophies and medals are up for grabs for the winning teams.

When Friday (7pm - 10pm)

Cost £200 per team, per term
Start Date 11 October 2024

The league takes place on Friday evenings in Qmotion with umpires and equipment provided as part of your league entry fee. Squads are made up of 10 people with 6 players for each game.

League trophies and medals are up for grabs for the winning teams.
