International Representative (S&E)

About the role:

The International Representative (S&E) will gather feedback from and represent international students in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences on academic issues and welfare issues affecting them. You’ll also be responsible for supporting the Vice President Communities, working with the International Representatives (Barts and The London, and Humanities & Social Sciences) to encourage the students they represent to participate and engage with the Students’ Union.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Engage with and lobby Queen Mary University of London and other relevant organisations to achieve improvements for international students
  • Seek feedback from international students in order accurately to represent their interests
  • Attend relevant meetings within the Students’ Union and the university (see list of compulsory meetings below)
  • Where appropriate, support the Executive Committee in their duties and responsibilities and seek support from them with respect to their own duties and responsibilities
  • Cooperate and coordinate with the International Representative (BL) and the International Representative (HSS), where appropriate
  • Provide regular updates on your work to the students you represent
  • Liaise with members of student groups relevant to the role, such as student cultural societieS

 

Meetings that I attend:
  • Student Council (2 hour meeting, four to five times a year)
  • Humanities and Social Sciences Board (1.5 hour meeting, four to five times a year)
  • Welfare Board (1.5 hour meeting, four to five times a year)
