BLSA Malta Co-president (Education)

Jolie Ghobrial

About the role:

Do you want to help lead BLSA Malta, representing students and providing them with support and opportunities? Activities play a huge role in the student experience, whether that’s societies, sports clubs, or more. You’ll be responsible for ensuring students in Malta have the best extra-curricular opportunities available to them. You will gather feedback, work to achieve improvements, and work closely with the President of the BLSA and other reps and staff as necessary. This is a non-representative position and does not sit on Student Council.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage with and lobby Queen Mary University of London and other relevant organisations to achieve improvements for students in Gozo
  • Seek feedback from Gozo students in order accurately to represent their interests
  • Attend relevant meetings within the Students’ Union and the university (see list of compulsory meetings below)
  • Where appropriate, support the Executive Officers in their duties and responsibilities and seek support from them with respect to their own duties and responsibilities (in particular the Vice President Barts and The London)
  • Liaise with members of student groups relevant to their role
  • Build and maintain a professional relationship with relevant staff members within the University
  • Meet with members of University, SMD and SU staff on a regular or ad-hoc basis
  • Provide regular updates on your work to the students you represent

Meetings that I attend:
  • Student Council (3 hour meeting, four to five times a year)
  • BLSA Board (2 hour meeting, six times a year
  • MMSOG (monthly, 2 hours)
  • SSLCs (regularly, 1 hour)
