We are having yet another great year for society success stories here at Queen Mary with two society nominations at Bright Networks yearly awards ceremony. To be considered for an aware is no easy feat in itself and we want to congratulate the societies who have worked hard to be nominated.

The Innovation Award is for the society that is using new technology and modern thinking to support the campus community, generate new ideas and/or educate others.

The societies nominated (and their nomination videos) are as follows:

Queen Mary Legal Innovation Society

"QMLIS is a society which focuses on legal tech and the latest innovative trends within the legal world. It seeks to educate students on the know-how of the application of legal technology and incite their curiosity so that they are equipped with a broader skill-set suitable to the legal market of the future. QMLIS does this by providing its members with briefs and articles on their social media accounts and newly launched website, as well as organising various events and workshops with law firms and legal tech companies to hear from industry experts on the impact of technology on the legal world. Their flagship event is the annual Queen Mary Legal Tech Academy, packed with numerous exciting events delivered by prominent figures in the industry. Further, QMLIS has recently launched both its website and its QMLIStream platform which aims to increase the accessibility to the society’s activities."

Hyperlink Society

"Hyperlink set out to build a fully operational Hyperloop pod from scratch. The team unites ambitious and hardworking students studying different courses and gives them a platform to work, learn, and develop new skills together. Our 2 main aims are developing the Hyperloop technology and contributing to its sooner commercial implementation as well as competing in international competitions like the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition. Hyperlink is split into two divisions: Engineering and Business. The Engineering division is focused on designing and building the pod itself. The division is split up into teams, each concerned with a specific subsystem of the pod. All teams work closely together, exchanging ideas and ensuring that all systems remain compatible and complement each other. The Business division is focused on acquiring sponsorships, securing partnerships with external organisations as well as media creation and marketing. Business is a vital part of Hyperlink as sufficient funding and partnerships with industry are crucial to building a high performing pod"
