Christmas at the Students' Union

We're wishing everyone a Happy Holidays and hope you all have a relaxing and replenishing winter break! For thos who celebrate Christmas, have a wonderful one full of joy. We're slowly winding down for the year and have a few things that will be different with us:

Events and activities

Why not celebrate with us and join us at one of our Christmas events? From end of term parties to Club and Society led festive fun, we have it all! We're also saying goodbye to the iconic Griff Inn at our Whitechapel campus so have lots of closing down events too.

Staying on Campus this Holiday season? Connect with other students who are too!

We have an official Facebook group for any of you to join if you are staying on campus halls or in London over Christmas.

The aim of the group is to help people meet others who are staying so they can make plans together over the festive period. Christmas information and activity ideas will also be shared in the group.

Societies, Volunteering, Student Voice, Sustainability, Sport, Academic Advice Service

If you need help with any of our services, you can contact us until Wednesday 20 December via the normal contact channels (detailed at www.qmsu.org. Just find the service page you need and the contact deets should be on there). We will then be closed from Thursday 21 December until Monday 01 January. Our teams will be back to support you from Tuesday 02 January 2024.

The university are offering support for the Christmas period so reach out to them if you need help during this time.

Students’ Union spaces – Opening Hours

The Students’ Union will operate amended opening hours across its spaces during the Christmas break:

Drapers

• Normal opening hours until Friday 15 December
• Closed from Saturday 16 December until Sunday 21 January
• Re-opening Monday 22 January

Ground

• Normal opening hours until Sunday 17 December (Weekdays: 8am-8pm / Weekends 10am-4pm)
• Monday 18 December to Thursday 21 December: 8am to 4pm
• Closed Friday 22 December to Monday 01 January
• Tuesday 02 January to Sunday 21 January: Weekdays 8am to 4pm / Weekends 10am to 4pm
• Normal opening hours from Monday 22 January: Weekdays 8am to 8pm / Weekends 10am to 4pm

Qmotion

• Normal opening hours until Sunday 17 December 
• Monday 18 to Thursday 21 December: 7am to 9pm (reduced class timetable in place. See here for details.)
• Friday 22 December: 10am to 6pm
• Saturday 23 December until Monday 01 January: Closed
• Tuesday 02 January to Friday 19 January: 7am to 9pm
• Normal opening hours resume from Saturday 20 January (Mon-Fri 7am to 10pm, Weekends 10am to 6pm)

Students' Union Hub and Multi-Faith Space

• Normal opening hours until Friday 15 December
• Monday 18 December: 9am to 12pm
• Closed from Tuesday 19 December until Monday 01 January
• Re-open from Tuesday 02 January to Friday 12 January: 9am to 5pm
• Normal opening hours resume from Monday 15 January (9am to 9pm)

Garrod Building and Whitechapel Campus

• Normal opening hours until Thursday 21 December (8am to 10pm)
• Closed from Friday 22 December until Monday 01 January
• The Recovery Rooms and Multi-Faith Centre will re-open with normal opening hours from Tuesday 02 January (8am to 10pm)
• The Old Library will re-open on Monday 15 January due to construction works taking place as part of the Garrod Building refurbishment project

Union Shop

• Normal hours until Friday 15 December
• Closed Saturday 16 December until Sunday 07 January
• Monday 08 January to Friday 19 January: 8am to 6pm
• Normal opening hours from Monday 22 January (8am to 7pm)

Village Shop

• Normal open hours until Friday 15 December
• Closed Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 December
• Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 December: 9am to 4pm
• Closed Thursday 21 December to Monday 01 January
• Tuesday 02 January to Friday 19 January: Weekdays 8am to 6pm / Weekends 11am to 6pm
• Normal opening hours from Monday 22 January (Weekdays 8am to 11pm / Weekends 11am to 10pm)

The Griff Inn

• Is now closed except for events. A new space will be opening in The Garrod Building in 2024.
