We're delighted to announce a £6 million investment in new facilities at the Whitechapel Campus. Find out more at our open exhibition on Friday
£6 million investment confirmed for the Students' Union and Barts and The London Students' Association at the Whitechapel Campus
It's time to have your say and get ready for a new home!
We're very excited to announce that the Students' Union and its sub-division, Barts and The London Students' Association, will be moving into brand new spaces in the Garrod Building next Autumn 2023. This follows efforts led by the ex-Vice President Barts and The London, Rob Tucker, to secure a replacement on the Whitechapel campus for the current BLSA Building that is due to be demolished at the end of this year as part of the Life Sciences Development.
We have secured a £6 million investment from the University that will provide a range of vibrant new spaces that will greatly enhance everyone's time at the Whitechapel campus, particularly for those students on Medicine & Dentistry and Life Sciences courses. The spaces will include a new cafe and bar, social and study spaces, faith facilities and other activity spaces across four floors of the Garrod Building.
The initial planning to confirm the project has been underway for the past six months, and the final plans and designs are now nearly ready! We are delighted to announce that on Friday 7 October from 1pm-6pm in The Old Library, we will be displaying these to all students and we want you to come along and have your say on what our new spaces should be like and feedback on the proposals.
The event will be an open afternoon, with floor plans and designs on display and an opportunity to answer questions and take part in activities to get your feedback. Student representatives and members of the architect team will also be present to answer any questions you have and to receive your feedback. You do not need to book or get a ticket, just drop-in when you're able to on the day!
This really is a historic moment for the Students' Union and Barts and The London Students' Association, so it would be brilliant to see as many of you there as possible. It's a really great opportunity to give feedback on the plans, which will become your new Students' Union spaces.
We look forward to seeing you there.
