Find out about the enhancements to the Global Talent Scholarship Award with increased financial support & eased eligibility requirements
Queen Mary University of London and the Students' Union have announced an enhancement to its Global Talent Scholarship Award for international postgraduate students, increasing financial support to £5,000 and easing eligibility requirements for 2025 applicants by lowering the grade requirement to a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree.
The scholarship provides 440 awards on a first-come, first-served basis to students starting in September 2025 from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. This initiative reflects Queen Mary’s ongoing commitment to attracting and supporting talented students globally, recognising the financial and cultural challenges of studying abroad.
Hassam Naeem, Vice President Liberation, International, and Postgraduates at Queen Mary’s Students' Union, who campaigned for greater financial support for international students as part of his manifesto, praised the initiative as a “big win” for the student community:
“As a postgraduate international student myself, I deeply understand the challenges international students face while studying in a different country, from navigating cultural differences and exchange rates to managing the high costs of tuition and accommodation. Living far from family while adapting to a new academic system is no easy task, and this £5,000 reduction will significantly ease the financial burden on our talented postgraduate students.”
Eligible students must hold an offer for a full-time master’s programme and be classified with overseas fee status. The scholarship will be applied as a deduction from tuition fees upon enrolment.
