What do you want?

To block-book the Blomeley Rooms on Fridays from 12:30pm till 2pm during the academic year to provide space for the weekly Friday prayers. This is in addition to the existing booking for The Nest. Room booking forms should include a note about this block booking to avoid any confusion.

Why do you want it?

Over the previous few years, a lot of work has been put in to provide adequate space for the large Muslim Student population to pray their weekly Friday prayers. However, every week the Muslim students who come to pray cannot find enough space in The Nest, with some not able to even stand at the back and waiting outside, bringing into question the health and safety of the students. For this reason, we believe it is necessary to book the Blomeley Rooms, in addition to The Nest, to accommodate for the Muslim Students who are seeking to pray their Friday prayers at university.

What impact will this have?

It will provide the Muslim students with a safe space to pray, without having any health and safety concerns, such as queueing outside The Nest till the staircase or having to pray in the doorways. It will ensure that they don't have to worry about missing their Friday prayer.
