What do you want?
I would like QMUL to provide sanitary bins in all male toilets around the campus.
Why do you want it?
Many members of the LGBT+ society at Queen Mary, have voiced their concerns and related the negative experiences they have faced while using single-sex toilets and changing facilities. While the university has installed gender neutral toilets around the campus to help resolve this problem for the transgender community, the number of gender neutral facilities is low, due to high cost and maintenance issues. It is essential that the university is supportive of the student body and therefore agrees to place sanitary bins in all male toilets for the transgender students who require them. This suggestion for improvement is not only less time consuming but also a cost effective strategy in addressing the needs of the trans community at university.
What impact will this have?
Implementing the policy would mean that the transgender students who require the disposal bins would not be subjected to discrimination. They will also find it convenient and comfortable to use the male toilets without concerns.
