Welcome to PsiStar!

This society welcomes anyone with an interest in the many fields of physics.

If you have a passion for our universe, AI and technology (and many other specialisms within physics), join us to meet like-minded, enthusiastic people through our entertaining and educational events. We welcome undergraduates, postgraduates, academics, and any other associates from all backgrounds and levels of expertise to discover and show their love for physics.

What do we do?

Becoming a member of this society means you get access to our events. These are split into four different categories:

• Social Events: From nights out to recreational activities, we have a range of events that will interest you. This is a great opportunity to make new friends and also get to know the other members from different years.
• Academic Events: We host external speakers who talk about their roles in physics. People in STEM workplaces, alumni and academics within the university will help you explore the different career paths available once you graduate, which will make this transition smoother.
• Cultural Events: Recognising the diversity within Queen Mary is essential, especially in the physics department. Learn about some of the different cultures on campus, and get involved in their practices. Learn where traditions originate, and discover the names of heroes in physics from all cultures. 
• International Trips: That’s right! Every year, we set out on an adventure abroad to places in their prime in science, whether it is research facilities or even just observing phenomena like the northern lights. What is better than this, you say? We offer these trips to members at a subsidised rate!

Student memberships are only £6 for the year, so sign up with us!

Please note: although most of our events are subsidised, you may need to pay a contribution fee.
