Applications Are Now Open for the 24/25 Season! Apply here
Welcome to Hyperlink!
We are Hyperlink, a student-led society based at Queen Mary University of London, where innovation meets colloboration. We're a diverse team united by our passion for transforming transportation through hyperloop technology.
Our mission is bold: to shape the future of transportation and lead the way in cutting-edge research and development.
Our Vision for the 2024-2025 Season
This year, we're focused on achieving three key milestones:
- London's First Operational Hyperloop Pod System: A groundbreaking project that brings together all our members to push the boundaries of sustainable transportation.
- Pioneering Biomedical Research: Two innovative studies exploring the health impacts and safety considerations of hyperloop travel.
- Comprehensive Business Case Study: An in-depth analysis of the commercial viability and scalability of hyperloop technology.
Our efforts will be presented at three prestigious international competitions in 2025:
- European Hyperloop Week (Netherlands): The largest hyperloop competition globally.
- Hyperloop Global Conference (Canada): The leading hyperloop conference in North America.
- Global Hyperloop Competition (India): The first hyperloop competition held in Asia.
Our Achievements
Since we started in 2020, over the past four years, Hyperlink has grown significantly in both size and expertise. We've earned recognition through our award-winning designs, including:
- Braking System Award (1st Place) (Hyperloop Global, 2024)
- Innovation Award (Bright Network, 2023)
- Low Power Electronics Award (1st Place) (Hyperloop Global, 2022)
- Propulsion System Award (2nd Place) (Hyperloop Global, 2022)
We are proud to be the only hyperloop team dedicated to biomedical research, and as London’s sole hyperloop team, we have collaborated with over 20 students from top universities like Imperial College London, University College London, and King's College London.
Why Join Hyperlink?
At Hyperlink, we offer more than just technical challenges—we provide a platform for you to develop invaluable skills that will propel your career forward. We’re also committed to building a strong, supportive community rooted in friendship, open-mindedness, and mutual respect, creating a close-knit network within the team.
As a new member, you'll have the chance to learn from experienced peers, gain hands-on experience, and develop both your technical and soft skills, which are highly valued in the professional world. We welcome students from all disciplines and experience levels, and are dedicated to finding a role where you can make a meaningful impact.
Our Teams and Departments
We have 3 departments and 16 teams within the Main Team:
- The Engineering Department designs and develops the core systems that power our hyperloop pod, ensuring efficient and safe operation.
- The Research Department explores the science and technology behind hyperloop, focusing on feasibility, safety, and integration with current infrastructure.
- The Operations Department manages partnerships, marketing, logistics, and outreach to ensure smooth team operations and successful project execution.
Together, these departments drive collaboration, innovation, and community to bring our vision to life.
This year, we’ve also introduced an Associates Team. This team gives new members a chance to explore all our departments and build their skills through training sessions and workshops in the first semester. In the second semester, associates can either join existing teams in operations and research, or work on exciting new subsystems, like levitation! This experience positions associate members to move up to the main team in the following year.
For more details on the teams within our departments, visit our website.
