Kendo

About

Queen Mary Kendo Club, established in 2007, is open to everyone aged 18 and above.

We are based in the QMotion Sports Hall (432 Bancroft Rd, London E1 4DH) at Queen Mary, University of London.

Our goal as a club is to take people who are complete beginners to kendo and give them the skills to be able to practice kendo anywhere in the world safely and confidently.

We aim to teach a balanced view of the martial art, encouraging not only its sporting and competitive aspects but also a deeper, more introspective way of challenging your own mental and physical habits.

Practices are all free with an annual membership fee of only £50 for students and jobseekers, and £60 if you are currently employed full-time. Single term memberships are also available with £30 for students and jobseekers and £40 if you're employed full-time.

Beginners are welcome at any point of the academic year.

This is ideal for students who want to purchase a gym membership - which is separate from a Club Sport subs - to improve and maintain peak physical fitness.

With every gym membership, you get a free 60 minute one-to-one session with trained instructors which includes:

  • A personalised gym programme tailored to your own fitness goals;
  • A full demonstration of exercise and techniques, and guidance on resistance machines;
  • Information and advice on nutrition;
  • A 60 minute review session every 6-8 weeks to re-evaluate and re-customise a new programme to avoid plateaus.
