About this event

Day of the Dead is the time of the year we remember our loved ones who passed away: we frame their photos and place them in the altar, adding the food they used to eat when they were with us. The leyend says that they come from the evermore to visit us, catch up and eat delicious things.

We will be offering next activities:

Part A: Crafts and facepainting!  (Matt Spencer Room, 17:00-19:00)

We are welcoming the rising Spanish and Latin American Society, who will be co-hosting with us in this first part of the journey. We will be doing the traditional catrina facepainting, a style of make up that resembles the original catrina, a colorful skull like figure that is very representative of these days.

We will be also doing a workshop of sugar skull painting, where you will be letting your imagination go wild and painting as your wish.

Part B: Eat, relax and altar presentation! (Blomeley Room 2, 19:15-20:45)

After a small break, we will see different short films related to the Day of the Dead while we eat pan de muerto (bread of the dead), to finally go and put the photos of our loved ones who passed away in the altar ubicated in the QMSU students hub. All people attending to this part is welcomed to put your photos, we will ight on the candles and explain the altar :)

We are excited to see you there!
