How I have delivered in last 6 months as your "current QMSU VP Liberation, International, and Postgraduates" :
- Successfully advocated and secured £2.2 million in scholarships, including £5,000 each for 440 international students ✅
- Rebranded Islamic Heritage Month ✅
- Integrated sustainability awareness activities into QMSU campaigns ✅
- Led a campus-wide campaign against unconscious bias ✅
- Secured approval from the Sticky Campus Working Group to install "handheld bidet showers" in toilets ✅
How i will further serve you this year?
Liberation:
- Push for enhanced and expanded Multi-Faith Centre (MFC) facilities with improved accessibility
- Complete installation of handheld bidet showers at BL and QM for inclusivity and hygiene
- Lobby for women-only spaces on campus
- Lobby for mandatory unconscious bias and Islamophobia training, plus stronger anti-hate crime policies
International Students:
- Fight for 100% scholarships for students from war-torn countries (Palestine, Syria, Ukraine)
- Advocate for the extension of the Global Talent Scholarship for continuing students
- Fight against fee increases and push for flexible installment plans
- With my ongoing survey with Russell Group SUs, lobby gov to improve visa conditions and working rights
Postgraduates:
- Are you graduating this year? I am already advocating for making QMSU societies and activities accessible to all alumni
- Lobby for equal and increased stipends for all PGRs
- Collaborate with Careers to create new graduate schemes for better career prospects
- Lobby for more flexible Extenuating Circumstances (EC) policies with quicker decisions
