Hi I'm Thirisha, a 3rdYear Pharmacology student who loves TBH!

Why do I want to apply to these roles?

Hi everyone, I’m Thirisha and I am going into my third year of Pharmacology & IT. I’ve absolutely loved getting involved with TBH, from volunteering at RLH clinics to engaging with the fire services at Safety Day! I would love to be more involved with TBH and the Barts community and have the chance to lead some sessions and organise some committee socials, to build everlasting friendships and give lots of friendly hugs :)

My goals for Teddy Bear Hospital this year are:

  • Inclusive Volunteering -  I would like to encourage volunteers from all courses, especially  allied health courses.
  • Continuous Improvement:  I would like to encourage feedback from volunteers by asking them after every clinic to fill out a short feedback form or a poll on the WhatsApp group chat, asking about how their experience was volunteering.
  • Approachability & Support -  Friendly familiar face that volunteers and committee/society members can approach without fear of judgment, so that I can help them the best I can.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Love to introduce a prize/reward/award system for the best behaved teddy bears the children bring each week, in addition to possibly more allied health stations, such as a pharmacy/vaccine/blood test station.

Why me?

  • TBH Experience - Volunteered with TBH for the past year, including volunteering at their new outreach project clinic, where a new vaccine concept was trailed to incorporate into clinics for the upcoming year.

  • Leadership Background: I’ve done First Aid at Tamil society sports  tournaments as well as having experience as a President of Bart’s Tamil Society this year, where I had to overlook the wellbeing of my committee, as well as working with other committees/societies and speak in front of others during events.

  • Collaboration Skills: Taken part in Barts Orchestra last year, which strengthened my collaborative thinking skills.

  • Youth Engagement: Tutored primary school to secondary school students, which has made me more confident working with young people.

Thank you for taking time to read my manifesto and best of luck to all the other candidates <3
