MANIFESTO FOR A TEAM LEADER IN TEDDY BEAR HOSPITAL

Dear fellow volunteers,

I am honoured to present my manifesto for the ‘Team Leader’ position. With extensive experience in leadership, community engagement and event management, I am committed to ensuring the smooth operation and impact of our weekly clinics.

MY VISION FOR THE ROLE

My vision for this role is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where volunteers feel empowered to make a difference in the lives of children. Together, we will acknowledge the diversity of the children we encounter, understanding their varying skill sets and needs during the activities. As a Team Leader, I would contribute to making certain that our clinics are well-organized, engaging, and impactful so each child successfully takes away the key messages from each station of our clinics, and our volunteers feel accomplished in their efforts.

WHAT WILL I BRING TO THE ROLE

1. Leadership and Event Management

As House Captain in school, I successfully organized sports events and led my House to success, demonstrating my ability to manage events and motivate others. Additionally, my experience in organising various events such as primary school visits for dance sessions, annual school dance shows and charity events for ‘Children in Need’, has further refined my event manage and problem-solving abilities. This involved meticulous schedule management, addressing last-minute issues and ensuring the seamless execution of all events and activities.

I intend to use this expertise to coordinate our clinic days, managing any logistical challenges that may arise on the day to ensure an exceptional experience for both volunteers and the primary school children.

2. Adaptability and Inclusivity

In my role as a Brownies volunteer, I have demonstrated adaptability and inclusivity by organizing activities tailored to the resources available and the capabilities of the children. I have learnt to plan activities that suit the specific age group, considering their skill sets, learning disabilities and other circumstances. This experience has equipped me with the ability to accommodate children with a wide range of abilities, ensuring everyone can participate fully. Furthermore, as a Dance Leader in sixth form, I further honed these skills by adapting to different skill levels and encouraging other to keep going, fostering a supportive environment. Organizing primary school visits during this role also allowed me to ensure that every child felt included and inspired during the sessions.

During my volunteering with Teddy Bear Hospital in the past year, I have been able to apply and further develop these skills. I have adapted my approach to engage with children from diverse backgrounds and with various abilities, ensuring they feel comfortable and included in our activities. This adaptability has been crucial in creating a welcoming environment where all children can participate and learn.

The ability to adapt and be inclusive will be crucial for the role as a Team Leader, ensuring our volunteers are well-prepared to engage with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities and being able to assist during clinics if necessary.

3. Teamwork and Communication

Through my years in Girlguiding, I have cultivated strong teamwork skills through collaborating with my peers to plan tasks, confirming our objectives are met. I effectively communicated with the supervisors to establish that the necessary resources were available for our tasks while effectively communicating with the leaders to establish that the necessary resources are available. My participation in the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award has further strengthened my teamwork and communication skills. Working together, we talked our navigation challenges and achieved our goals. Additionally, my experience in school council has honed my ability to guarantee everyone's opinion is heard and considered, fostering an environment of inclusivity and reaching common ground. In the Team Leader role, I will foster a supportive team environment where every volunteer feels valued and empowered to contribute, ensuring our clinics are successful and impactful.

I am excited about the opportunity to be a Team Leader and contribute to the meaningful work of Barts Teddy Bear Hospital. With my leadership experience, adaptability and commitment to inclusivity, I am confident that we can make a significant impact together.

Thank you for considering my nomination, and I look forward to the opportunity to work alongside each of you to make a positive difference in our community primary schools.
