Hi, my name is Laveinia Godfrey and I would love to be your MedTech president for next year!
I am currently a fourth year medical student at Barts and The London and MedTech has been an interest of mine even before chatGPT became a thing. My dissertation was even on ‘The use of Artificial Intelligence in Primary Care’ … so if you want to give that a read let me know ;) The marriage between medicine and technology is one that many are afraid of however, this is something that I want to change. Technology can revolutionise the way we deliver care, from eliminating mundane admin work, to diagnostics, to robotics-assisted surgery to implants that monitor our vitals. This is why it would be my pleasure to lead a society that is dedicated to helping make the impossible possible.
I have had previous committee experience as I was on the publicity and networking team of Women in Healthcare, as well as other leadership roles in school such as deputy head girl.
Therefore I believe I have the skills required to help lead and also follow in this amazing society.
Furthermore, I have close links with big names in the industry such as those working in GIANT – ‘The UK’s leading community of healthcare innovators’, and I am part of the team running the annual conference later this year! I would love to introduce this society to the GIANT community of nearly 200,000 MedTech innovators as this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect with the biggest names in the game.
My goal for the society to grow even more. More members. More connections. More Research. More talks. More ideas. More Technology. More innovation. More love for MedTech.
Merging the wonderful worlds of medicine and technology has been the goal from day dot and I would be love to share my own visions and also help put forward others’ ideas to help this society flourish.
I would love to be your president, if you would love me to be yours :)
