This will really vary from group to group depending on what they normally do out in the community. Some have been running virtual sessions of their normal in-person activities, some have focused on fundraising and others have been making craft videos for the children they normally volunteer with. Why not go and talk to the groups today, or reach out to them if they aren’t here today.

What if I am not in London currently, can I still join?

Yes! Groups have been creative this year about how they can still deliver their volunteering activity with all the national restrictions so even if you aren’t in London there is likely still a way for you to join in.

Does it cost anything to join a volunteering group?

No volunteering groups are completely free to join, the only thing that they cost is your time! Also, if you have to travel to your volunteering (outside of lockdown restrictions) then you can submit your expenses to be reimbursed in line with our expenses policy.

What time commitment is involved in a volunteering group?

This really depends on the group, most of them are flexible and don’t have a weekly commitment for your volunteering. As they are run by students, they understand that university work takes priority but as it takes time to train you it is good if you are able to attend more than once. Once a month for a few hours is normally a good estimate. If you want to volunteer more though then they welcome this and you may even get some rewards!
